...is the oldest sports emblem used today!The Old-English-D-Logo of the Detroit Tigers is one of just a few sports logos that need no real identification... people know what they represent the second they see 'em... logos such as: The interlocking NY for the hated Yankees... the Block M or the winged helmet for our friends down the road in A squared... maybe the LA Dodgers insignia... or even the Winged Wheel- What they all have in common is that they're simple and timeless... ... but the oldest and the coolest and the classiest has got to be----- Guess what... yep....

THE OLD-ENGLISH-D-LOGO OF THE DETROIT TIGERS: ... It's the oldest currently used sports logo... it was originally used back in the 1890's when Kenny Rogers- OOPS- I mean when the old Western League team used a form of it.

...It's the MOST beautiful, in its simplicity, of all designs.. no bias here!

...It's the main part of the beautiful Tiger home uniforms, once called by someone "The closest thing to formal wear in sports."

...and those uniforms are beautiful, aren't they? No messy pinstripes, no gaudy colors, just total, elegant, yes.. almost formal, tradition. Who wouldn't look good in one?

If you look through old-time baseball pics, you will see an old English logo on many of the caps and jerseys... pretty much all have fallen by the wayside, which makes our so much more distinctive... check out some old pics- Cobb, Crawford, Heilmann, Mullin- all the old guys proudly displaying it... and Alan Trammell wasn't just yapping when he was hired as manager and said that he wanted to bring pride back to the Old-English-D-Logo... that's how we all feel about it!

For some reason, it was dropped for only one season in the early '60s, but it made a quick return -- try to imagine the furor if THAT were ever attempted again. It is synonymous with the team and the city.

...and notice that the Tigers don't wear an alternate home jersey...ever? Imagine the shock if they ever took the field in one of those softball uniforms...

And ever notice, also, that there is a difference between the logo on the Tiger cap and the one on the uniform? ... it's been that way for a looonnng time... which one is your favorite? Would you like to see the cap "D" on the uni? Would you like to see the uni "D" on the cap? .... do you realllly care????

Look at all the folks sporting the Tiger cap or the Tiger jersey... even someone who looks like ME looks good with that logo!
