Everyone loves lists...

...here are some Detroit-Tigers-Lists and other baseball stuff...

Tiger Stadium

ALL TIME FAVORITE TIGERS

1. Norm Cash - Funny, talented... a great character.

2. Alan Trammell- Almost the "anti-Cash" personality, but a true pro. We still feel bad for him being stuck with that horrible team. So bad that we'll give him a pass for ending up with the hated cubs.

3. Carlos Guillen- Many favorites on the current squad- he and

4. Placido Polanco are true old time gamers and great clutch players.

5. Al Kaline - A Trammell-type pro.

6. Rocky Colavito - What's not to like?

7. George Kell- Really only know him as an announcer but it's not hard to imagine the type of player he was.

8. Mark Fidrych- The Bird!

9. Pudge Rodriguez- Almost singlehandedly gave this struggling franchise credibility. Where would we be without him?

10. Willie Horton- Born to be a Tiger and a great leader.

HONORABLE MENTION and some old-timers who seem pretty cool: Steady Eddie Brinkman , Bill Freehan, Dick McAuliffe, Dan Petry, Don Wert, Mickey Stanley, Champ Summers, Frank Tanana, Juan Gonzales--- KIDDING!, Larry Herndon, Earl Wilson, Curtis Granderson, Aurelio Lopez, Gates Brown, Don Mossi, Jim Bunning, Jim Leyland, Bill Monbouquette, Hank Greenberg, Sam Crawford, George Mullin, Hooks Dauss, Bobby Veach, Harry Heillmann, Charlie Gehringer, Elden Auker, Gee Walker...

DRAMATIC MOMENTS

1.1968 World Series Victory- Not only had the town waited so long for this, and endured one of the worst riots in history, it was won by a beloved team loaded with characters and greats. No coincidence that many of these guys made their homes in Michigan after their playing days.

2. 1934 World Series Victory- After losing three classics in a row... from '07-'09, the Motor City thought it might never see another. The town went crazy!

3. 2006 Sweep of Yankees in ALDS- Kenny Rogers pouring champagne over a cop!

4. 1968 Pennant Clinching Game- "The Tigers have won their first pennant since nineteen hundred and forty five... let's listen to the bedlam [BOOM] at Tiger Stadium."

5. Tiger Stadium's Final Game

6. 1945 Flag Won on Last Day of the Season- Greenberg's 9th inning GRANNIE does it!

7. Gibson's Homer Ices 1984 Series Win- Padres go down in 5 games.

8. Ordonez Home Run wins 2006 pennant- ... and the place goes WILD!

9. Mark Fidrych Beats the Yankees on National TV

10. 1967 Flag is Lost on Last Day- Stupid redsox win it by 1 game.

BALLPARKS

I've visited 20 former and current MLB parks. Here's how I rank them:

1. Tiger Stadium- Nothing comes close.

2. Old Comiskey Park(Chicago)- Very underrated old-time ballpark... great food... exploding scoreboard... totally south side Chicago.

3. PNC Park(Pittsburgh)- Entering behind the plate, the bridges and skyline almost take your breath away... too bad the Buccos are such a lousy team or this place would really rock.

4. Citizens Bank(Philadelphia)- Very good old-time feel... great phans!

5. Comerica Park- Underrated... good food, lots of distractions for the casual fan which are well hidden and don't interfere with the game. Love the Tiger motif!

6. Dodger Stadium(Los Angeles)- Love the early '60s feel... the setting... the zig-zag bleacher roof... a time machine back to the space age.

7. Fenway Park(Boston)- Feels like old Tiger Stadium... very cool.

8. US Cellular Field(Chicago)- Very underrated... they've made some great improvements to it since it opened... I like this ballpark a lot!

9. Jacobs Field(Cleveland)- This place brought back baseball in Cleveland... distinctive style.

10. County Stadium(Milwaukee)- Kind of a neat old-time bare-bones ballpark... went there in 1971- and saw Hank Aaron return in an exhibition game and saw Cash homer the next night for the Tiges!

11. BankOne Ballpark(Arizona)- Retractable dome, but otherwise nondescript.

12. Turner Field(Atlanta)- A nice place, but no real standout features.

13. Cleveland Stadium- If this place were 25,000 seats smaller it would have been pretty cool... dirty and rundown, but still had a good old ballpark feel to it.

14. Rogers Centre(Toronto)- Actually a better place than I had expected... saw a guy hit for the cycle- Jays had a big lead and he stopped at first on a 9th inning gapper!

15. Memorial Stadium(Baltimore)- A July Sunday with NO covering... relentless sun and humidity. This might have been a much better place at night or on a cooler day.

16. Tropicana Field(Tampa Bay)- About as good as a dome could be.

17. Shea Stadium(New York)- Too big, too loud (from the jets), too New York.

18. Three Rivers Stadium(Pittsburgh)- Am I in Philly?

19. Veterans Stadium(Philadelphia)- Am I in the 'Burgh?

20. Wrigley Field(Chicago)- Overrated... Any charm the place ever had has been lost by an unlikeable team, a money-grubbing management and fans who don't seem to know- or care- much about the game.

ANNOUNCERS

Here's an unbiased look at our favorite Radio/TV announcers:

1. Ernie Harwell (Detroit)- Not much left to be said here.

2. Paul Carey (Detroit)- I LOVED this guy... so underrated.

3. George Kell (Detroit)- His down-home "been there-done that" style. Every kid in Michigan had his impression down... "Thanks Larrah and good evenin' everone... Here's the first pitch of the ballgame... He HIT IT LIKE A BULLITT, but right at him."

4. John Rooney (Chicago White Sox)- A lot like Ernie... not a homer, but you can tell who he's rooting for.
